Hamamatsu Tobu Junior High School (January 18, 2023)

We support the career development and path choices of middle and high school students.
On January 18, 2023, as part of our community contribution initiative, our company employees participated as instructors in the 'Career Lecture' held at Hamamatsu Tobu Junior High School.

Overview

I began by explaining our company's primary business, which is semiconductor and LSI. I shared my thoughts on the decision-making process at the crossroads of high school and university choices and career paths, detailing what considerations led to my decisions.  Following this, I offered advice on how to think independently when deciding on one's career path. Despite the content being mostly new to them, it was quite impressive to see the students earnestly taking notes and listening attentively. I hope that the information provided can be useful as they navigate future decisions regarding their career paths.

Student Feedback

  • Until now, I didn't understand the meanings of terms like semiconductors and LSI, so I was worried about keeping up with the conversation. However, you explained it in an easy-to-understand way, and it was clear and easy to grasp. LSI was a new term for me, but learning that it is used in things around us was surprising, and it made me want to explore the behind-the-scenes of more everyday items. I had never thought deeply about the future, but when I heard about the satisfaction and the kind of people the job seeks, I learned that there is a sense of accomplishment and joy unique to this job.  I want to understand my strengths and weaknesses and decide on my path forward.
  • The phrase 'connections are a treasure' left a particularly strong impression.  After listening to today's talk, I also want to broaden my connections with others.
  • I mentioned that when choosing a career path, 'the consciousness and action of seeking knowledge on your own are important.' I also talked about the importance of taking action based on 'what you want to do' rather than 'what you can/cannot do.' After hearing this, I also want to challenge various things with that mindset.
  • I emphasized the importance of having the awareness and initiative to seek knowledge on your own. I also talked about developing your strengths, trying various things, talking to people in different positions, setting small goals instead of one big goal, and repeating the process of setting and achieving those goals. I highlighted the significance of taking action based on 'what you want to do' rather than 'what you can/cannot do.' In the future, I hope to live my life with a conscious effort to incorporate these five important principles.
  • Initially, the term 'semiconductor' didn't ring a bell for me. After listening to today's discussion, I learned that it is an important component used in various things. If I have the opportunity, I would like to research more about this company.
